Cary Chiropractor gives tips on fall prevention.
There comes a time in our lives when one fall can change a life forever.
Babies fall every hour. No big deal.
Kids fall every day. No big deal.
Young adult falls. Sore for one day.
Middle age adult falls. Sore for a week.
Senior citizen falls…..Broken hip, broken spine, broken arm, even death.
1 in 3 senior citizens will fall every year!
Last year there were over 250,000 hip fractures in the US alone! 1 in 5 of these hip fracture will lead to death within one year! That’s 50,000 deaths per year!
Falling is a serious issue for senior citizens and is something that needs to be addressed and preventive steps taken.
Because of these statistics, many seniors develop a fear of falling which limits their activity. Limited activity can lead to a host of other health problems like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
Limiting activity is not the answer.
We must remain active, eat right, and reduce our risk of falling and/or suffering a complication from a fall.
Diet can help reduce the risk of fractures with falling by increasing the strength of your bones. Recommended supplements are calcium citrate, magnesium, and Vitamin D-3.
Improve your posture! Research shows that with poor posture comes an increased risk of falling. Chiropractic care has been helping people with poor posture for over 100 years while improving their range of motion and mobility.
In conclusion.
Stay active. Eat right and supplement with calcium citrate, magnesium, and vitamin D-3. See a chiropractor to help with posture and mobility.
Sincerely,
